About The Album
As Zach Braff said while compiling the music for the soundtrack, "Essentially, I made a mix CD with all of the music that I felt was scoring my life at the time I was writing the screenplay." This provides an unusually personal touch to not only the meanings of the songs themselves, but how they flow together and fit so well with the movie itself.
The album was awarded the 2005 Grammy for "Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For A Motion Picture, Television or Media". (source)
Trivia: Braff felt that the soundtrack was so integral to the script, he sent a copy of it with every request he sent out. This was to help him obtain the permission/rights to the songs for the soundtrack due to the film's budget limitations.
